After a successful Community Menorah Lighting in Hawkins Street Park on the first night of Hanukah
(despite the weather – see photo on page 3), Temple Beth-El of City Island held another well-attended
Hanukah party on Sunday, December 12th.Our Annual Hanukah party proved to be a very special afternoon with Rabbi Shohama, musical storyteller Akiva Wharton and the wonderful magic of Joseph Fields. There were crafts for the kids, dreidels, kosher hot dogs and lots of potato pancakes (thanks to Sandra and Irwin Hoberman), apple-
sauce, cold drinks, coffee, tea and delicious desserts.After a touching ending to our party (see photo above), a special raffle was held, Olga Berdé was the
lucky winner of a Temple Beth-El logo sun-catcher valued at $100. Thanks to the efforts (and fantastic
organization) of Jackie Kuschner, our program chairperson, everyone had an exciting time that sunny
afternoon.
