TBE Joins 15th Annual Shabbat Across America

Mark your calendars now for Shabbat Across America and Canada on March 4th, 2011. Once again, “Your Shul by the Sea” becomes part of the biggest, boldest continent-wide event unifying Jewish communities across North America.
Everyone is invited… singles, couples, families — all ages. Turn an ordinary Friday night into something extraordinary. This annual Shabbat program will give you a “taste” of Shabbat. Explanatory services, traditional rituals, delicious meals and lively discussions are all important components of the Shabbat experience. It is also an opportunity to spend the evening with like-minded people, friends and family here at Temple Beth-El of C.I.
Thus, a traditional kosher chicken dinner will be provided for those who opt to join us before services begin.  It will be free to Temple members and all children under 13. (There will be a nominal charge of $10 for adult non-members who wish to join us for dinner – refundable upon joining the temple.)

From the Rabbi’s Desk:

Dear Friends,

It's cold and wintery outside but in Your Shul by The Sea we have plans to keep you warm inside and out.

My next Friday eve Shabbat Service with Reb David will be February 11th, and is entitled THE SAPPHIRE: BRINGING HEAVEN'S LIGHT TO EARTH. Through music, meditation and words we will explore how the image of the sapphire stone in Torah gives us a way to experience the pleasures of heaven while right here on earth.

Also, plans are in the works for Sunday afternoon March 20th, for a funny and entertaining look at the Purim story. Groggers, songs and refreshments, of course. Bring your friends of all ages, especially children! Further details to follow.

Lastly, I want to invite you to join the online Chesed Prayer Group. This was started last year with a few volunteers who pray for our members in need of healing or help. It only requires that you be willing to pray for our list as often as you can in whatever way you choose, ideally once a day. Not a big commitment time wise.
If you would like to join, please email Reb David, our list master, at DavidEvanMarkus@gmail.com.
Every added prayer helps!

From my heart to yours, with blessings and love,
Rabbi Shohama

And a Message from Your President:

Shalom! Temple Beth-El “Your Shul by the Sea” has been providing exciting events and congregational gatherings since our year started back in August 2010.  Membership letters have been mailed out for the new year of 2011.  Please send in your dues as soon as possible so we can maintain our financial responsibilities and keep our lights aglow in our shul.

Please mark your calendar for Friday night March 4, 2011 as our shul will be participating in Shabbat Across America.  The program committee is putting together an inspiring Shabbat evening including a free Shabbat meal for members and a nominal charge of $10.00 for non-members.

Looking forward to seeing all of you at all of our upcoming events.
